SmackDown Live results: February 3, 2012

OMAHA, Neb. ? In the wake of the Royal Rumble, Randy Orton lit-up the Barrett Barrage in a grueling No Disqualification main event, while Mark Henry got himself suspended and AJ stopped a major Big Show offensive on World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan.

In a knockdown, drag-out No Disqualification slug fest, bitter rivals Randy Orton and Wade Barrett turned everything in their reach ? from chairs and a table to the steel ring steps ? into excruciating implements of destruction. In the end, The Viper finally triumphed over his English adversary with back-to-back RKOs, executing the second one onto a steel chair.

Then, upon hearing the news that he will face WWE?s Apex Predator next Friday night, World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan rushed to the ring, defying the ever-present intimidation of The Viper by engaging in a victory lap of sorts ? raising his arms and shouting his own praise.

Divas Champion Beth Phoenix & Natalya def Aksana & Tamina (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Prior to their Divas Tag Team Match, Natalya and Beth were warming up when the former involuntarily passed gas for the second week in a row. (WATCH)

Once the action got underway, The Glamazon opted to tag herself in, ordering Natalya "out of her ring" before delivering the Glam Slam on Aksana for the pin. Moments later, The Fabulous Firebird walked out of the squared circle without her tag team partner. Natalya regrouped, trying to initiate a post-match assault on the fallen Aksana, but Tamina came to the rescue. Dropping her adversary with a powerful kick, "The Warrior Princess" once again delivered an earth-shattering splash off the top rope.

AJ stops Big Show from hitting the WMD on World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Singing his own praises about beating Big Show and Mark Henry at the 2012 Royal Rumble, the self-declared ?role model? Daniel Bryan preached to the Omaha members of the WWE Universe about the benefits of becoming Vegan. However, when he called for The World?s Largest Athlete to be removed from the SmackDown Elimination Chamber Match on Feb. 19, Bryan quickly found himself face-to-face with the subject of his scorn.

After the provoked giant hit the chokeslam on his ?arrogant? foe, a neck brace wearing AJ came to the ring. In spite of the Diva's presence, Big Show looked ready to follow-up with the WMD on Bryan. However, the injured Divas grabbed his fist, causing him to hesitate long enough for her boyfriend to get to safety.

WWE Tag Team Champion Primo & Epico def. Santino Marella & ?Hacksaw? Jim Duggan (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Five days after returning to compete in the Royal Rumble Match last Sunday, WWE Hall of Famer ?Hacksaw? Jim Duggan teamed with Assistant to the General Manager Santino Marella to take on Primo & Epico. As Duggan chased Epico out of the ring, The Italian Stallion prepared to unleash the Cobra. But, at the last minute, Rosa blew a kiss to the ?snake?-wielding Superstar, allowing Primo to hit the Backstabber for the victory over ?Santin-Ho!?

Justin Gabriel vs. Hunico ends in a No Contest (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Furious over losing to Sheamus, Cody Rhodes stuck around for the following match, attacking Justin Gabriel from behind as the high-flyer's opponent Hunico was emerging with Camacho. When the opportunistic amigos decided to join the Intercontinental Champion in his onslaught, it drew the ire of the returning Great Khali. Though Rhodes would escape the giant Superstar's wrath, the other two Superstars were not so lucky. In the end, Hunico suffered the Punjabi Plunge.

Later, Khali would be named as the final participant in the SmackDown Elimination Chamber Match. (MATCH PREVIEW)

Sheamus def. Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes in a Non-title Match (WATCH PHOTOS)
In a fierce battle between The Celtic Warrior and the Intercontinental Champion, Sheamus pulled a new move out of his powerful arsenal, hurling Rhodes backward to the canvas with extraordinary force for the huge non-title victory.

SmackDown Elimination Chamber Participants named; Mark Henry Suspended (WATCH | PHOTOS)
General Manager Theodore Long got things rolling by informing the WWE Universe which Superstars would appear in the SmackDown Elimination Chamber Match at the pay-per-view of the same name on Feb.19. World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan would defend against Wade Barrett, Big Show, Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton. (MATCH PREVIEW)

Although Mark Henry was also slated to be in the match, that all changed moments later when The World?s Strongest Man demanded that Teddy Long take him out of the Chamber and instead give him a one-on-one World Title Match that very night. As a result of the confrontation, Teddy did take Henry out of the Elimination Chamber ? leaving his spot vacant ? but denied the second part of his forceful request. When Henry chose to put his hands on the SmackDown leader, he quickly found himself ?suspensed indefinitely."

As the enraged former World Heavyweight Champion grabbed Teddy by the tie, Sheamus emerged, stomping the massive grappler?s aggression with a Brogue Kick. After the 2012 Royal Rumble Match winner informed the SmackDown GM that he would wait to declare which World Champion he would challenge until after WWE Elimination Chamber, Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes decided to interrupt. This led Teddy to make a match between them.

Governments and business must collaborate to reduce supply chain ...

A new report presented at last week?s economic forum at Davos, calls on governments to come together to tackle risks, whether they be climate change or piracy off the Gulf of Aden, writes John Manners-Bell

At the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, the issue of supply chain risk took a high profile, with senior government figures and industry leaders seeking to develop ways in which economic damage caused by disrupted supply chains could be mitigated.

As part of the initiative, a new report was launched at the event ??New Models for Addressing Supply Chain and Transport Risks(http://www.weforum.org/SupplyChainReport) ? that highlighted the urgent need to review risk management practices. According to the WEF, governments and companies need to become more resilient in the face of emerging and complex risks.? The largest risk is from the unknown. Major disruptions in the past five years ? including the global financial crisis, Yemen parcel bomb scare, flooding in Thailand and the Japanese earthquake and tsunami ? have highlighted how risks outside the control of individual organisations can have unintended consequences that cannot be mitigated by one organisation alone.? Encouragingly, more than 90% of those surveyed by a WEF and co-report author Accenture initiative indicated that supply chain and transport risk management has become a greater priority in their organisation over the past five years. While global supply chains are increasingly complex and spread out, some critical components are only available in one location.? For the world?s largest shipping companies, Somali piracy is the most serious threat. It costs US$12-17bn every year in insurance, security and other costs, says Dan Sten Olsson, CEO of Stena. Internationally, the report calls for governments to come together to tackle risks, whether they be climate change or piracy off the Gulf of Aden. In the latter case, international law needs to be updated to decide jurisdictions and military responsibility, among other issues. One disincentive to improving risk management is that financial markets have been rewarding companies for being very lean. But this additional cost is necessary for businesses to be able to absorb shocks and to rebound afterwards. Yet, risks remain, because today?s supply chains, especially in emerging markets, can be long and not entirely traceable.? Overall, the report concludes that there is a need to introduce greater flexibility in operations and enhance collaboration between businesses and governments ? nationally and internationally ? to better manage the risks to global supply chains.? Senate clears way for vote on insider-trading ban (AP)

WASHINGTON ? Congress' low approval ratings have sparked a rare instance of bipartisanship, as both parties are rushing to pass a bill that would make it clear that insider trading laws apply to lawmakers.

The Senate voted 93-2 Monday to clear the way for consideration of amendments and ? sponsors hope ? final passage later this week.

Members of both parties looked at approval ratings in the teens in an election year and didn't like what they saw. But it was an independent, Sen. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut, who may have best expressed Congress' political plight.

"The numbers of people who have a favorable impression of this body are so low that we're down to close relatives and paid staff. And I'm not so sure about the paid staff," he said.

The legislation would require disclosure of new stock transactions on the Internet within 30 days and explicitly prohibit members of Congress from initiating trades based on non-public information they acquired in their official capacity. The legislation, at least partly symbolic, is aimed at answering critics who say lawmakers profit from businesses where they have special knowledge.

U.S. lawmakers already are subject to the same penalties as other investors who use non-public information to enrich themselves, though no member of Congress in recent memory has been charged with insider trading. In 2005, the Securities and Exchange Commission and Justice Department investigated then-Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist's sale of stock in his family's hospital company, but no charges were ever brought against the Tennessee Republican.

Voters may believe lawmakers who are paid an annual salary of $174,000 are enriching themselves ? especially if those voters saw a segment of CBS' "60 Minutes" in November. The show questioned trades by a House committee chairman, the current speaker and his predecessor's husband. Rep. Spencer Bachus, R-Ala., Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., all denied wrongdoing. Bachus chairs the Financial Services Committee.

A recent Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll of registered voters found 56 percent favored replacing the entire 535-member Congress. Other polls this year have given Congress approval ratings between 11 percent and 13 percent, while disapproval percentages have ranged from 79 percent to 86 percent.

The bill is titled the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act. President Barack Obama has endorsed it.

The Senate bill would prohibit lawmakers from tipping off family members or others about non-public information that could influence a stock's price, in addition to the explicit ban itself. And it would direct the House and Senate ethics committees to write rules that would make insider trading violators subject to congressional punishment.

House leaders are working on a more expansive bill that would include land deals and other non-stock transactions. A vote is expected in February.
